About the Event

Join us for the Inclusion Network Shropshire - a community of practice for those who support others and want to run an inclusive organisation.

The inclusion network is not really about networking. It's an opportunity to participate in a shared experience, facilitated by expert coaches with first-hand knowledge of overcoming disadvantage or physical and mental barriers. This is communicated in an interactive way, usually in a community setting. We deliberately focus on a range of topics related to diversity and inclusion and rotate venues around the county.

Our vibe is relaxed, informal and friendly, and we are very much a 'community' that supports one another.

For our Summer Inclusion Network, we are delighted to being hosted by Enable, Shropshire Council’s Supported Employment Service. Enable are going to be sharing insights into their clients journeys to all things Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

We will be hearing from Nicki Evans, Expert By Experience Lead for Enable. Nicki will be sharing her journey, discussing her long battle with mental health, how she has overcome many barriers including to employment, the many different experiences she has had along the way, the good and bad, and how sthis experience supports her in promoting Inclusion, Equality and Diversity to others

Trigger warning: Some of the themes covered in Nicki's talk could be distressing to some members of the network. This will include; self harm, drug misuse, domestic violence and suicide.

If anyone who needs to take time out during this segment of the agenda, there will be a safe place for you to do so.

We will also be joined by Gretel Parker, local Shropshire based artist, who will be sharing some of her work and expertise when it comes to being mindful and self-care using a quick and easy creative exercise - Doodling!

This event is designed to promote well-being and you will also have the opportunity to:

  • Meet with and hear from individuals and their supporters about their journey to running their own organisation
  • Connect with yourself in the coached session
  • Catch up with other attendees and network
  • Share your experiences
